Okay, so you remember when I posted about bandom music? And I promised primers & picspams? Yeah, I thought you might.

So, being as I am too lazy and/or still too uninformed (there's only so much one can soak up at once!), I am going to link to some shiny primers, rather than making my own.

Where To Start:

the illustrated guide to seana's bandslash downfall by [livejournal.com profile] seanarenay - Mostly a picspam with some commentary that basically introduces just about everybody worth knowing about in bandom.
I'm putting this one first because, umm, it's full of pretty. That seems a perfectly good reason. Possibly it should be first and last so that you can see all of the reasons why bandslash is a great place to be, and then once you have learned everything there is to know about them, you can go back and ogle them some more.

Where is your boy tonight? Pimping Post by [livejournal.com profile] femmequixotic - This is basically What You Need To Know about Fall Out Boy, Panic! at the Disco, & My Chemical Romance. Lots of good info, and a few pictures for reference. It seems like a pretty good place to start learning.

More In-depth:

PIMP!post by [livejournal.com profile] forcedmovement - All FOB, all the time. It's got pretty pictures, shiny downloads, and bits of information sprinkled liberally throughout.

Massive FOB Pimping Post by [livejournal.com profile] psychodragon82 - All FOB, all the time. Links to interviews and such, some downloads, and lots of pictures. Bonus points for starting with Hemingway as the most important one in the picspam.

let's get these teen hearts beating faster, faster by [livejournal.com profile] addictedkitten - All P!atD, all the time. It's got a lot of good information, pretty pictures, links to interviews and live performances and such, fic recs, and is generally a good place to start.

TAI PIMP!POST by [livejournal.com profile] forcedmovement - All The Academy Is..., all the time. Lots of pictures, some media, and some Important Things To Know. Go. Stare in wonder at the prettiness of William Beckett.

Ooh, he's ready for it by [livejournal.com profile] dreamofthem - Mostly all Gabe Saporta/Cobra Starship. Contains many Things I Did Not Know about Gabe &/or CS. And lots of pictures. As proof that Gabe is even gayer than you possibly think he could be. And links to fic, video, & other fun things. (My favorite of the video links is where a fan asks Gabe if he's ever had gay sex and he says he's never been fortunate enough... but he's looking forward to it someday. Oh Gabe, how you tease.)

Okay, that's all I've got for now. If you still need more like an addictive drug to shoot up in your veins, there's a giant list of primers & such over here done by [livejournal.com profile] wistfuljane. I think all of these are on that list, but I figured I should give it to you guys in slightly more manageable doses.

Fair warning, clicking on too many of these links in one day may lead to brain splodey.

The one thing I noticed was, I think you were talking about when Panic! got signed? And said that Pete came to their first live show, and then he decided to sign them, but I'm pretty sure from what I've read (I should probably go figure out what interview it was from to back this up, huh?) Pete attended a band practice. I think it was just Brendan & Ryan? And then I think they went to Del Taco or something afterwards. I really wish I could remember which article/interview/whatever this was from.

I want to say that their first actual live show was not until when they came back from recording the album? But I'm not sure if I really read that somewhere or if I imagined it out of thin air.

I would have commented on the post, but I wasn't sure if you were still updating it or not.

Oh, hey, I didn't imagine the second part! It mentions it in their bio at FBR here (http://www.fueledbyramen.com/bands/index.php?id=43).
and when they returned to Las Vegas after recording, they played a hometown show (actually, the band's first live concert ever) and over two hundred people showed up.

If pressed, I might be able to find the interview that the first part was from, but I'm not sure. It was probably during one of my being-eaten-by-youtube-because-i-can't-stop-clicking-associated-video-links things that seem to be more and more common since I got into bandslash.

Yeah, you should have said something there! I wrote that back in August when there were few canon resources to go by, and I haven't really updated it since, but of course I'm not opposed to doing so.

Brendon's said that they actually stopped to play a show on the way back from Maryland (before they got back to Vegas), so yeah, canon sources have the danger of being fuzzy. (There are also differing reports on how Ryan first got in touch with Pete, wherein "differing reports" = things both Pete and Ryan have said at different times, oy.)

Wow, I hadn't heard the thing about them stopping to play a show on the way back from Maryland. That's pretty entertaining. I guess that didn't fit FBR's definition of a real show? Or they didn't know about it?

*sigh* Bad enough we've got to try and figure out canon from all the interviews and stuff, they they've got to go and contradict each other. Silly boys.

It's totally understandable that there wasn't much in the way of canon to go by at the time. I've been reading a lot of fic lately that's set in the pre-fame days and it's kinda crazy how different everybody's imagining of the events of their signing can be based on what canon they had available/had seen when it was written.
Multiple creation myths, ftw!
