Thursday night, Helen and I stayed up until like 6 AM drinking wine coolers... and then I got up like 5 hours later. *rawr* But I did get about an hour-long nap in the car on the way to Louisville with Helen to visit her friend John. We decided to stop in Horse Cave to see the 24-hour porn store there that's supposed to be really nifty. We turned the wrong way after we got off the highway and ended up going like ten miles in the wrong direction. We had to stop and ask directions. Apparently gas station attendants don't like being asked directions to the porn store. She *glared* at us! o.O; But, turns out, it's actually really easy to find the place if you just turn the right direction. Oh well. It was fairly nifty. We wandered around for a half hour or so looking at stuff. I had to tell Helen that I was *not* going to let her go into the peep show or the theatre. *sigh* And John called her while we were there to ask her why we weren't in Louisville yet... oops. We got on the road an hour or two later than we'd planned and then unexpected stops, so... yeah, we were running a bit late. He seemed mildly amused to hear that we were at an adult toy store when we were supposed to be in Louisville. Fortunately, he's known Helen for a long time, so this detour did not surprise him. So that was fun, then we got back on the highway and continued heading north.
We kept seeing signs for Abraham Lincoln's birthplace, so we figured, What the hell? We're already late; let's stop! So we got off on the exit it said and then panicked because there was an A exit and a B exit and we didn't know which one to take. Apparently, we chose the wrong one. We ended up going 15 miles down some random highway before we found a place where we could turn around. We were beginning to worry that we would be stuck on the wrong highway for eternity as there were no exits for such a long time. I think the highway was Western Kentucky Parkway but I can't swear to that. So, yeah, we found a place to turn around and travelled the same fifteen miles in the other direction. We decided it wasn't worth it to give Lincoln another try. So we continued on our way to Louisville. The rest of the trip was uneventful.
So, when we got there, we found out that John wasn't getting off work until 11 PM, so we had rather a lot of time to kill as it was like 4 in the afternoon. So we decided to go see a movie at the cheap theater. "Ice Princess" with Michelle Trachtenburg happened to be starting just when we got there, so we decided to go see it. It's a very cute movie. And Michelle Trachtenburg is hot. Way hot.
Anyway, after we got out we still had a long time to kill, so we went to the mall and walked around for a while. I went to the Godiva store and bought a present for my mommy (whose birthday is Friday) and my sister Tamie (whose birthday is Tuesday). (Yes, there are an inordinate number of Gemini's in my immediate family.) We wandered around, got some coffee (Mmm, caramel macchiato!) and then went to FYE. We spent half an hour or so looking through a random box of audio cassettes just for the novelty value of it. *Tapes* Crazy. I actually ended up buying two to listen to in the car on the way home because Helen has a tape player in her car. I got Sex Pistols "Never Mind the Bollocks" and a random Motley Crue tape. I also bought the new System of a Down cd because I have an unhealthy love for them. Really. I'm listening to it now. It makes me happy.
After we got bored of the mall we still had much time to kill so we went *back* to the theater and saw "The Pacifier" which is a cute movie which I'd actually already seen but Helen hadn't. I still find it hilarious when the little girl asks Vin Diesel why his boobs are so big. It's just priceless. "Do you have to wear a bra?" :-D
By that time, John was off work so we went to his dorm. Which is way nicer than ours. No, I'm not jealous at all. Nope. We mostly sat around and watched tv with John and his roommates. The guys wanted to make Jello shots, but they didn't have any vodka or gin. So they got the bright idea of making them with tequila. If this *ever* seems like a good idea to you, allow me to tell you now... it isn't. Really. It's nasty. *blegh* I actually had a couple. Bad idea. Anyway, then we watched Boondock Saints (Yay!) and played around with the strobe light, then finally went to sleep. I actually got almost six hours of sleep that night which was an improvement on the few days before it. o.O;
We headed out of Louisville around 11:30-ish AM. We had lunch at McDonald's. They have Philly Chese Steaks at McDonald's now. What's up with that? o.O; Surprisingly, it actually wasn't half bad.
On the way home, we decided to stop at the *other* 24-hour porn store we saw on the way to Louisville, in Upton. It was much the same, a little bigger, but it didn't have a peep show or anything. I bought one of those little plastic livestrong-type bracelets that said "Twisted" on it for my little sister, just so I could tell her it came from the porn store. ^.^
We continued on our way south, then we came across Dinosaur Land. It's actually a kinda nifty place. They have life-size dinosours and a museum and stuff. Neither of us had ever been and we had some time to kill, so we went. It was very nice, and I got some nifty souvenirs (Yay, squished pennies!). I do wish I hadn't worn my brand-new sandals as my feet were not happy after a half-mile walk. Meh. Yeah, so then we headed home.
Got home, changed clothes, then turned around to go to Zoe's end of the year girl scout banquet. It was incredibly long and tedious. And I spent most of the time chasing my nephew around. And ran into some people I would have been happy to never see again in my life. But I survived. Then Helen decided to kidnap her brother, James, to come with us to the movies at midnight. We went home, killed some time, then headed to the theater.
On the drive to the theater, I spent most of it staring out the window entranced by the pretty moon and clouds and night sky. Was the moon full last night? I'm too lazy to go look it up. If it wasn't full, it was damn near. There were a lot of tiny little clouds rather than large hazy ones, so the moon kept peeking in and out from behind the clouds. The sky was a pretty blue-ish gray color and the clouds were like dark-gray leopard spots. It made me very happy.
Helen and I say Kingdom of Heaven. Yay! And Zoe and James saw Revenge of the Sith. Kingdom of Heaven... was a really good movie, despite the fact that Orlando Bloom was only shirtless for like 10 seconds. *Damn him* I was impressed with how well he managed to pull off stoicism during the early parts of... actually the majority of the movie. About a half hour into it I turned to Helen and was like "I don't think he's spoken a dozen words thus far in the movie... WTF is up with that?" I liked the ending, and the ending is the most important part of a movie for me. It occurs to me that I've been to the movies like.... four times in as many days. Woah. How odd. o.O;
Got lots and lots of sleep last night which makes me happy after 3 nights without enough. Especially since I'm not likely to get much tonight as I think I'm getting up in the morning to go to BG with mom. Mrr.
I also took my contacts out last night for the first time in... 3 days. Yeah, I'm a bad Kt. My eyeballs are going to fall out. *whispers* Please don't tell my girlfriend! *pout* I really need to change to a fresh pair, but I still haven't found them. I swear, I've cleaned and put things away, but my room seems to have eaten my contact lenses. *rawr* Bad room!
Now I need to go find out if anyone has taken Kinsey back to the video store yet, as I haven't watched it yet. Damnit, I rented the movie and I haven't gotten to see it! Since it's due back in less than two hours, I don't think I'll be able to watch it even if it is still here. Grr. I may just have to give up and buy it.
Note to self: Don't forget to write up rant later about Pink Floyd and parents.
