Lol, Art Alexakis, lol indeed. Your attempt to single-handedly reclaim christianity from the crazy fundies is A+.
Woo and also yay!

Empires! They want you to have their debut album so much that they are giving it away! Go listen to it! Go! Now!

You know what I really desperately want in my life? For a regular band to do a wizard rock song. That would make my life. ^.^

Sorry, I just realized that Ministry of Magic is the best wizard rock band EVER. ♥

In other news: Numb3rs on Friday was pretty good. Sticky Charlie and Larry? YES PLZ.
Still haven't watched Monday's House or Wednesday's Criminal Minds. Also, I'm like three episodes behind on The Riches. Somehow, despite the fact that there are not that many episodes of that show, I am chronically behind. I have never actually managed to watch it in real time ever.

In other, other news: That damn Miley Cyrus song came on the radio today and is now STUCK IN MY BRAIN. Thanks, really. It's actually kind of creepy how much similarity I can hear between her stuff and Metro Station. Maybe Miley & Trace's mom fed them techno beats in the womb?

Do I ever post when I'm not sleepy? What's up with that?

Oh, wow, I just totally distracted myself before I could click to post the entry.

I was thinking earlier, you know what else I really, really want? Fic about Singer meeting Miley Cyrus when she came to see her brother on the RRRGLT. Or actually about her meeting absolutely anyone else on that tour. Because it would be so ridiculously lolztastic.

I want fic where Singer has a giant crush on her! The other Cab-babies make fun of how much he likes her show! He has to watch it in secret! They call him a perv but he just really wants to hold her hand! And he's not that creepy! He's only like three (four?) years older than her damnit, they should leave him alone!

Or, I also want fic where she has a giant stupid crush on Singer and like gets his number and starts randomly texting him and he thinks it's kind of cool but in no way realizes that she's all crushing on him even when she calls him up the day his album comes out to tell him how much she likes it!

I have no idea why I want this ridiculous fic, but I want it. Make the internet give it to me, please?

ETA: Oh, wow, that is the best mood icon ever. No wonder I only post when I'm sleepy. See you soon, Panic-babies!
Metro Station - self titled album (zip/mp3)
(Metro Station wiki | Metro Station myspace)

Trace Cyrus is so lol-tastic that I don't even know what to do with myself.

He really seemed to enjoy singing "Wish We Were Older" to the flock of tiny girl things staring in wonderment last night. (They were sporting a disturbing amount of Hello Kitty merch and I don't really know why. There was also a disturbing amount of Hannah Montana paraphernalia going on at that show.*) At one point he changed the line to "wish you were older" instead. :-D
At least he makes music about his pedophilic urges instead of acting on them?

Anyhow, this album is incredibly fun and catchy. I'm prone to listening to it on repeat. Very fun techno-y beats. Everyone should listen to it. Yes, I mean YOU**.

I was going to rec my favorite tracks, but actually, it's pretty much all of them. I really have a hard time narrowing it down. Ask me to name my favorites and you basically get all of them in whichever order I happen to think of them in at that moment. I would maybe put "Shake It" and "Seventeen Forever" a smidge above the rest, though, if you really need a place to start. Ooh, and "Disco". And... okay, I'm stopping.

*It boggles my mind that anyone could possibly be a fan of both Miley Cyrus and Trace Cyrus, but then again I am unironically a fan of Trace Cyrus and Billy Ray Cyrus, so I'm probably not actually any better.

The Cab - One of THOSE Nights
The Cab - Risky Business

Myspace rips (I finally beat the website into not fucking them up, Yay!). I would have a real version of the first MP3 except the FBR website is a stupid piece of shit and doesn't like my pre-order code or something. *kicks webstore* I just want to get my cd some time!

In other news: Panic on AOL Sessions.
Why do I not have video rips of this? Because I cannot find them, that's why. Somebody help me out?

10 days til MCR. :-D

WTF is up with the new Simple Plan album (video for the single if you just want a taste). It sounds like they ate a backstreet boy or something. I kinda like it anyway. Or, am amused by it at least.

So. Freaking. Much. Snow.

The last time we had this much snow was like fifteen years ago. Seriously.

Panic! B-sides!!!

PatD - Behind the Sea (alternate version)
Ryan singing! *flail* The voice lessons seriously paid off. A lot.
So mellow. Wow. I really want to know what the not-alternate version sounds like. Only two and half weeks, sigh.

PatD - Do You Know What I'm Seeing (alternate version)
Brendon!!! Melodic. Gorgeous.

I like these both, but where are they keeping all the dancability that they said was still going to be in the album? Somewhere in the not-alternate versions, I'm hoping.
Through some trials and tribulations, I have acquired my tickets for the Honda Civic show in St. Louis on 5-30. Very thrilling. Indianapolis is still in the decision-making queue, mostly depending on how much my girlfriend will kill me for making her sit through Panic's new stuff (which is already driving her batty) twice. (But I really want to take you to the show, Lauraaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!)

Speaking of Panic's new stuff, here's a download of Nine in the Afternoon if anybody doesn't have it yet.

Also, it's already been embedded in my f-list like 4 times today, so I will just link to it instead, but this is seriously the most stoned interview ever. Ryan and Jon, how so high? My god.
My favorite part might be when they got asked which song they were most looking forward to playing live and Ryan replied with, "That's like asking you who your favorite kid is *scratches head* ...if you're a parent of... fifteen." Seriously, how do their publicists let them get away with showing up to interviews in this state?

I think everytime someone asks how this album will be different from the first one and Jon gets the chance to say "It's got different songs on it," or some variation thereof, I'm pretty sure a fairy gets its wings or something. Lolz. Though Ryan's answer of "Jon's on it!" and "I play the harmonica!" are pretty ♥-worthy as well.

I was going to post about this a couple hours ago... but then the power went out forever and I had to sit around and drink by candlelight instead. (What?)
Also, do you know how difficult it is to put together a lite-brite design by candlelight? Jeez, it is ridiculously hard. And then we ran out of orange and pink. :(

My Cobra album showed up today.
:D :D :D

I'm pretty pleased with my polaroid, too. (#228, incidentally)

Lookit! )
I can't wait for the new Cobra Starship album to get here! (That's why I'm listening to the whole thing online! Go here, click the Audio tab then select Viva La Cobra!) (Oh Gabe. ♥ He's bringing sassy back, yo!)

Best picture of Panic ever, Y/FUCKINGYESYESYES?

The Young Wild Things Tour kicked off yesterday and I am so ready for it to get here.
(Umm, don't click the links if you're, like, saving yourself for the concert or something?)

Omg, the setlist! ([livejournal.com profile] topsyturvy's pic)
And the cover song!!! (Open up your eager eyeeeeeeeeeeeees...)
And I kinda want to buy every single thing I can see even half-clearly in the merch booth (CAT MACRO SHIRT = WIN)!!

Fuck I love Fall Out Boy a lot.
Is it November 6th yet?

Oh, in case your f-list happens to be made of, like, fail or something, here's the track that's trekking 'round the 'net from the (zomg, only 3 more weeks to go!) new Cobra Starship album: Guilty Pleasure

Gabe+Patrick= ♥
You know what's kinda sad? Downloading albums that you actually own from sharing comms because you can't be arsed to figure out where in your house the bloody things are.

I had a teacher in middle school who told me a story once about a Beach Boys concert she went to when she was young. Billy Joel opened for them. He played Pianoman. They booed him off the stage and he ended up not releasing the song until like 10 years later.
Listening to the song always makes me think of that and how painful that must have been for him as a musician. I am thankful he got up the courage to finally share the song with the whole world. Because I really, truly, unashamedly love it.

Would it be inappropriate to rock/serenade your 2-week-old nephew to sleep when he's crying with Cobra Starship?
If so, I totally deny having done so today.
(And given that this did not happen it could in no way have been the cutest thing ever when he fell asleep sucking his thumb during the middle of "It's Warmer In the Basement".) ♥

La la la. I'm gonna go eat some rice and then read my f-list cuz I haven't checked it all day. Be entertaining! I need it after the day I had today.

On an entirely different note, the odds of me ever actually trying to get caught up on the Wheel of Time series just shot so low they can no longer be comprehended using the existing number system. I almost feel bad about the fact that when I first picked the books up ten or so years ago, I figured Robert Jordan would probably kick the bucket before he finished the series. Actually, more I feel a little bit bad that I don't feel very bad and am in no way surprised.

Also? Happy Birthday, Jon Walker! (Even though it makes me kind of sad that, as the oldest person in Panic!, you are still 3 months younger than me. I still ♥ you because you are a pretty, pretty boy. And still a real boy. You are an enigma wrapped in a conundrum. Wrapped in hotness.)

Mandy Moore did a cover of "Umbrella". I really like it. This makes me feel all dirtywrong. Dude, seriously. I don't like the song or the singer! How does this make any sense?

...but it's really pretty! ;_;

In other news, I am heading to Bowling Green in a couple of hours. Do you hear warning claxons, people? Perhaps you should. ♥

(But Gerard singing Umbrella is still my favorite.)
This was meant to be a phonepost the other day but the phoneposting number was not working for some reason, so:

Country version of "Because of You", FTW?! Reba, what were you thinking?!

In other news, I spent kind of a lot of time playing Guitar Hero II today. And forgot to watch the VMAs like I meant to. Oh well, they'll play them again, I'm sure. Or I can catch the highlights on Youtube or something. Somebody who watched it should tell me which parts not to miss because I totally have about an inch of patience for awards shows.

Oh, and happy anniversary, [livejournal.com profile] ktprincesswitch. 4 years, yo. Who would've figured?

We went out to dinner on Friday to do the anniversary celebrating thing, then stopped by a party our friends Tony & Tonya were having. We meant to just, like, stop by and tell them we were sorry we couldn't stay, but somehow ended up hanging around for like two and a half hours. Oops. Also did a couple things which might not fit all definitions of anniversary-celebrating. They are however, very much within our definition. :)

Who knew three-way kisses really worked?

Coming soon, to a friends-list near you: A post of my favorite cover versions of songs. (Seriously, if I forget again, hit me or something.)
Weeks are terribly long things. Really.
But! It is Friday! Yard-saling tomorrow! 400-mile yardsales! YES!

(I am ridiculously excited about this, can you tell?)

I'm also glad the Strikethrough Wank has pretty much ended. Yay for LJ deciding to stop being complete morons on occasion. Also? If you are in fandom & haven't joined [livejournal.com profile] fandom_counts you should still do it because I think it will be really cool to have a headcount of fannish LJs. Plus, you never know, we might need that weight to throw around next time LJ gets dumb.

In other news, the music post will be up as soon as I get on the computer tonight. It really, really would have been up last night but the internet was being retarded so I couldn't get everything uploaded. The post is written and everything, I just need to fill in 3 last links. Damn internet. (I only promised this, what?, a week ago? My bad.)

Did [livejournal.com profile] dotcoms_refresh die or something? *pets pretty newsletter*

Random icon selector is an awesome thing. ETA: Even though it changes the icon if I edit the entry.

Forgot to mention! It is June! June! Yay!

This is the most entertaining thing I've seen today.

"I don't put anything in my body that's not flourescent and full of sugar."

Now perhaps I'll go do that sleep thing soon. Much unlike yesterday.

I may have failed to mention this, but...

I bought tickets to go see Fall Out Boy on May 18th.

So, yeah, me & jen & zoe are going to drive 5 hours each way to see them. And I'm gonna have to skip work. And it is *so* going to be worth it.

Right now I think I have every frickin' F.O.B. song in existence on my MP3 player. Seriously, it's a lot. Including some really wacked out remixes. Apparently people really like to remix Dance Dance.

In other news, I downloaded Media Monkey today & I'm about to go poke about with it and see how much better it really is at organizing my music to my liking. I've always disliked iTunes and never really been fond of Windows Media Player, but it was the only thing with as much functionality as I needed. So, we'll see how this goes. I've heard good things. Anyone who has experience with the program, feel free to give me tips & such. :)

St. Louis isn't *that* far...
And there are lawn seats!
And-and Fall Out Boy!

I could take off work... ... ...

*wantses bad*

Somebody talk me out of this? Or into it? Whichever.

Oh, and while I'm posting anyway... here. Have the other Gym Class Heroes song featuring Patrick Stump, "Clothes Off!".

And now... season finale of Dresden! Eeee!
