kaciagemini: (Bandom - Panic! - Jon)
( Sep. 17th, 2007 07:55 pm)
Would it be inappropriate to rock/serenade your 2-week-old nephew to sleep when he's crying with Cobra Starship?
If so, I totally deny having done so today.
(And given that this did not happen it could in no way have been the cutest thing ever when he fell asleep sucking his thumb during the middle of "It's Warmer In the Basement".) ♥

La la la. I'm gonna go eat some rice and then read my f-list cuz I haven't checked it all day. Be entertaining! I need it after the day I had today.

On an entirely different note, the odds of me ever actually trying to get caught up on the Wheel of Time series just shot so low they can no longer be comprehended using the existing number system. I almost feel bad about the fact that when I first picked the books up ten or so years ago, I figured Robert Jordan would probably kick the bucket before he finished the series. Actually, more I feel a little bit bad that I don't feel very bad and am in no way surprised.

Also? Happy Birthday, Jon Walker! (Even though it makes me kind of sad that, as the oldest person in Panic!, you are still 3 months younger than me. I still ♥ you because you are a pretty, pretty boy. And still a real boy. You are an enigma wrapped in a conundrum. Wrapped in hotness.)

Oh, hi. I just realized I haven't posted for five days. No reason in particular for that.
I guess I've just been wrapped up reading fic and del.icio.us-ing like mad.

My bandom tag is a nice place to be.
I went on a bit of a crazy bandslash reading glut when I first started so now I'm trying to hunt down everything I liked and actually save it so I can maybe find it if I want to re-read it. You know, unlike any other fandom I've ever been in. I suck at keeping track of fic.

In other news, I am seriously stoked for the midnight showing of the new HP movie tonight. I've never actually been to a midnight release for anything, ever, so double cool points. Plus, I'm wearing my shiny new robe that I just finished yesterday. (And by "I just finished yesterday" I mean to say watched as Jen ironed on my patch after Mom finished hemming it after Zoe finished ironing the hems. And after Laura did the bulk of the making. I cut my own hems! And did the neck thingie! I did have some small part in it! And I was totally going to do it all myself, but apparently I spent too long sitting around looking particularly useless and people just started doing stuff for me. That's kind of awesome, actually. Life should always work that way.)

But, yes! Robes! Coolness!

I am wearing a blue shirt and my blue and black converses (my toes are currently rebelling in confusion because I have not worn socks since at least April) to make up for the fact that, though I am a Ravenclaw, my robes are lined with grey instead of blue because blue fabric determinedly did not want to be found when we were searching for some. I almost wish I had a tie, but ties are expensive, yo.

Other things I am excited about:
Mini-vacation in Pigeon Forge this weekend.
Book release next Saturday/book release party next Friday night.
My "Our Lawyers Made Us Change The Name Of This Song So We Wouldn't Get Sued" ringtone. It is the first Fall Out Boy song I ever heard and is quite possibly still my favorite.

Also of note: I changed my moodtheme to one that is Panic & FOB. Woot! [livejournal.com profile] expastic is awesome.
I own Good Omens.
...Don't I?

I think I remember buying it. I know I remember reading it, and I'm reasonably certain that this was precipitated by purchasing it...

What the heck did I do with it? Have I lost it? Did I loan it out to somebody?

Book, are you out there? Hello? Anyone?

(I am being completely serious. My memory/sanity really does malfunction this badly. I am honestly questioning reality.)

Note to self: email Susan
Note to self, the sequel: send lj links to aileen
Note to self, final part in the trilogy: do not forget to bring danny his b-day card tomorrow

Will those notes serve any real purpose? Of course not.

Yay! Accomplishments!

So, yeah, today was very long. Got about four hours of sleep last night. Zoned my way through Soc, then Anth, and other Anth, and other other Anth, and lunch and then Psych of Sex, which was at least entertaining. Then helped girlfriend finish doing the mail-outs at her place-of-employment and we wandered away to go shopping.
We randomly decided that Barnes and Noble was a good idea. Listen carefully, people: Barnes and Noble is never a good idea. We spent 2 hours or so and about a hundred bucks between us, I think. Oh, but I did finally buy "Sex, Drugs, and Cocoa Puffs"! Yay! (Don't worry, at least Rita gets it. ^.^)
I also felt it necessary to buy an interesting looking book about physics/string theory. And two about math-y things. *sigh* Damn Numb3rs reminding me that I like math. Grr.
And I bought a small present for Aileen that is not her birthday present, because I'm going to pick that up later. And I bought a small present for Zoe today, as well. (Shh! It's a secret! ...not really.)

So yeah, we didn't get home until like 9:30 ish and then there was dinner-ness and... I have no idea where the last hour and a half or so went. I'm so sleepy... Except not really. I really want to open another soda, but that would be bad since I already have to get up in 7 1/2 hours. I'm going all Rita-sleepy from exhaustion, so I guess that means I should stop typing and go to bed. Except I totally haven't checked my email yet, or the RP, and I wanted to watch another S1 ep of Numb3rs and..... Stopping now. Really. G'night.

...WAIT! I almost forgot! Just watched last night's House. Most of the storyline did not particularly draw me in. Though, despite what other people have said, I didn't find Wilson's behavior the least bit out of character. And House, of course, reached new depths... but at least he did it half naked. And spinny. Which was realllllllly distracting. But pretty fun. And I did like the very end. I would have liked the entire episode much better without the patient-of-the-week. Seriously. Ick-ick-ick! Worlds of ick!

Okay. Really done now. I think. ...okay, I'm going, jeez...
Cut for teh crazy "Getting to Know You" meme of doom (doom, doom, doooom.... *echo*) )

And in other news: I am not dead. Yay! That is, generally speaking, a good thing.
...Lessee, Sat. night I fell out at about 10 PM. Woke up Sunday at 2 PM. Was confused.
Took the kidlets back to BG, ran into Wolfie randomly at Kroger. Ate sushi in a moving vehicle (harder than it seems).
Went to see James Taylor. (which one might have already figured out if you listened to my phonepost, crappy though the quality was) The concert rocked muchly. Luke was better behaved than was feared, but not as well behaved as was hoped.
Got home at about 2 AM. Helen was there. She apparently taped QAF for us, but I haven't watched it yet. Ended up watching Season 5 of "Angel". Pretty much all of it.
I think I kinda napped from about 4 AM to 7 AM (monday morning, by this point). Left for BG at about 8:30.
Got dropped off at the top of the hill. Walked around Cherry with Zoe a bit. Ran over to Thomson and talked to Laura for a few minutes.
Ran over to the Rock house for the interview thingie with the possibly new teacher guy - who seemed pretty nice. It's too bad I can't go to the other one so I can compare them and see which is better. Oh well. (Jen, at least, knows what I'm talking about. Probably. Right?)
Went to ...the bank ...and Wal-Mart ... Oh, and TJ Maxx! The shoes! I got a pair of Converse! Crazy!random, yeah? I don't think I've ever owned Converse shoes before. They're kinda cute. Almost all black, with a little bit of blue. Very Nice. And Zoe got some that are white and red and I don't remember. We were actually there to get Zoe some, but in helping her pick some out, I accidentally fell in love with a pair. I found a pair of New Balances that are the same design as my old falling-apart ones that I dearly love and have been trying to replace for years... but they weren't the right size. This disappointed me muchly, but I am happy with my new Converse regardless.
Um, yeah. An dthen we got home and I took a nap. From about 3 PM to 7 PM. ...someone woke me up, but I don't remember why. I was still sleepy, but I had to get up to go over to Aileen's and help her with Luke anyway, so I figured I might as well get out of bed. ...Got Luke to sleep... fed the fish... got back here shortly after 11 PM.
I have no idea where the last three hours went since I got back. I did read my f-list for the last day or two... but I haven't even checked my e-mail yet! ...I think teh crazy meme possibly took over an hour. Damn. Crazy-ass meme.
Now I need to go check my main e-mail addresses, read Kate's Munch/Fin fic (squee! *iz excited*), read the updates to my f-list that occured whilst I was composing this *book* of a post, .... oh yeah! and also sleep! Sleep is good. I keep forgetting that, I think. My body is going to start rebelling soon, I fear if I do not begin giving it sleep in regular intervals and normal-sized doses. Sometimes, though, I think that perhaps I am actually an alien, and I *do* have circadian rhythms, they are simply designed for an alien planet with longer days where it would be necessary to be awake for about 20 hours and sleep for 10. I think I would possibly work better that way. /insanity ...okay, so I never actually /insanity, but I like to pretend, okay? Don't knock the wind out of my sails! ...Oh, and I need to read that HP trio fic that's been sitting in my taskbar for like three days. After "Climbing Uphill".
And I need to remember to take my contacts out before I fall out. Because I've been wearing them since... 2 PM Sunday and it's now... Tuesday? *has lost all concepts of time* Tomorrow, after I become un-comatose, I'm supposed to go driving and practice parallel parking, which may or may not actually become a feasible plan because Aileen is driving the Kia because her car is being fixed... and the Kia's the only thing I can really drive... well, that I really *would* drive, not necessarily *can*.
But anyway: email, flist, fic, contacts, sleep. hopefully in that order. I have a gameplan, now I just have to follow it... I never was very good with sports-type things, perhaps game plan was not a good idea? *shrug* *gives it a shot anyway*
I really am ending this post now. Really. Night luvs. Or morning. Or whatever. Ni!

I love fresh fruit. Especially peaches. Mmm. Fresh, ripe, un-chemical-y peaches.
Edit: And also fresh vegetables. Mmm. Corn on the cob.
I think I'm gonna go read my book now. The Enchanted Forest Chronicles, by Patricia C. Wrede. It's an excellent book and I highly recommend it to anyone who likes fairy tales and anyone who doesn't. ^.^
I'm not yet quite crazy enough to think that sunshine is a good thing, but I seem to be heading quite alarmingly in that direction. This good mood is entirely inexplicable.

Just got back from the drive-in, where we went to see War of the Worlds, which was suitably impressive. I did think that the ending could have been more... specific, the way they phrased it was like a vague riddle that only makes sense when you already know the answer. But maybe I'm just not giving people enough credit.
Now I'm gonna go watch some more of Oz, season 3. Then watch QAF when it comes on again. And finish my black cherry smirnoff. And then get back to reading The Enchanted Forest Chronicles, which I've read before but not in many years and it is a very good story.

Guh. Eames, I mean Kathryn Erbe, I mean Shirley Bellinger is fucking creepy as hell. And somehow that makes me love Eames more. Don't ask me how. Watching Oz is going to have a permanent mind-warping effect on watching L&O of all flavors.

Oh, another random thing: Have you heard of Orlando Bloom's new movie Elizabethtown? Well, how come I hadn't until I saw a preview for it tonight?! It's about *Elizabethtown* - *E-town* - as in *Kentucky* - how did I miss this?

That is all.

My day, as told to Jen:

kaciagemini1013: guess what i've been doing? ^.^
Alluring Discord: what?
kaciagemini1013: driiiiiiiiiiving
Alluring Discord: wow
Alluring Discord: and you didn't kill yourself?
Alluring Discord: or anyone else?
kaciagemini1013: nope
Alluring Discord: yay!
Alluring Discord: =P
kaciagemini1013: not even bruce
Alluring Discord: that's amazing
kaciagemini1013: i drove part of the way home after the 8th grade grad this morning
kaciagemini1013: then around lunch time, i drove back to elkton so zoe could pick up her report card
kaciagemini1013: then to pop's video to get some movies
kaciagemini1013: then we decided to go to russelville so i could get printer paper
kaciagemini1013: then, after wal-mart, i drove across russelville to the liquor store to get some wine coolers
kaciagemini1013: then we went to library to get some books
kaciagemini1013: i only drove half the way home from russelville though because mom called in a panic about the weather and forbid bruce to let me drive
kaciagemini1013: then helen called in a panic because the power was out in elkton and she couldn't get gas
kaciagemini1013: so we found a gas can and i drove to sharon grove and we got some gas and then we went to elkton, where helen was, and brought her the gas
kaciagemini1013: then we followed her home and back to sharon grove to make sure she made it ok
kaciagemini1013: then i drove home
kaciagemini1013: the end.
Alluring Discord: jesus.
kaciagemini1013: hey, when i decide to drive, i do it right ^.^

For those who do not already possess this knowledge, I do not drive. I have had my permit for... three and a half years. I can count on my fingers the number of times I've actually driven. And almost every time was with someone different in a different vehicle. So, yeah, I've never actually been *taught* to drive. But apparently I've mostly picked up on it anyway as there weren't too many glaring errors in all that driving today. Yay for me! I may actually learn to drive this summer, after all!

In other news, the QAF final season premiere is Sunday. Yay!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This pleases me greatly. ^.^

Also, I found adorable black sandals at Wal-Mart today. This also pleases me greatly, but I'm sure you don't need another page full of exclamation points to emphasize it. I was actually looking for black sandals similar to my brown ones that I dearly love, but couldn't find any and couldn't find any, then I found some in the right design but they were purple! And also in lime green! I liked them so much, I was almost ready to buy the purple ones even though I have nothing to wear them with. I had just talked myself into giving up when I spotted the exact same sandals, in black, in my size! I put them on, hopped around in them and squeed slightly in excitement, then put them in the cart. I love shoes. :-)

Oh, and I bought Hotel Rwanda on DVD today so I can finally watch all of it. (Damn you, friends, for making me skip class and miss it! *pouts* Okay, so I'm not really mad. But now I can see the hour in the middle that I missed.) And I rented Kinsey so I can see if it's any good. Hooray for sex! (Apparently today is a good day for sociology classes related movies. o.O; Who knew?)

I have currently read books 1, 2, 3, and 5 of Lemony Snicket's "A Series of Unfortunate Events" series. I'm in the middle of the 4th one. (I had to read 5 first so Zoe could give it back to her friend.) Zoe has actually read about 5 or 6 chapters of this one to me out loud. My little sister takes such good care of me. ^.^

Anyway, I think that's all the updating I have to do for now. I need to go check my e-mail, read my f-list, and apparently I have to go over to Aileen's and keep Luke and Zoe company while Aileen unpacks stuff and cleans. Gotta run!

Curses! Tonight's Crossing Jordan re-run on A&E has been pre-empted so they can show some special about Star Wars. Grr. I hate Star Wars. The only one of all of them that I've ever seen is Episode 1; I watched it once a few years after it came out when I was at a friend's house.

Why is the season finale of Criminal Intent being shown on Wednesday? Tv needs to stop stressing me out. Now. *rawr*

~Currently on Book 3 of Lemony Snicket's A Series of Unfortunate Events~

I think Math 307 might just kill me. We spent most of the first class period talking about linear equations in an infinite number of dimensions. My brain has trouble handling three-dimensional objects as a mathematical concept much less more dimensions than that where there *is* no way to visualize them. *sigh* I'll muddle through it somehow. I think. Well, I guess I have to since I've already dropped the Folklore class I was signed up for because I decided after barely half an hour in the class that I didn't like the professor. That puts me at 15 hours now, so that if I dropped math 307 I would have *another* 12 hour semester and *never* frickin' graduate. Not to mention that the class is required for the minor and I really *do* want a minor in math, even though right at the moment I can't begin to remember *why* I thought it would be a good idea... Anyway, I love the rest of my classes. I've got 2 Anth and 2 Soc. The prof for Intro to Linguistics is very adorable and funny and the class seems like it will be really fun. Intro to Archaeology is with Dr. Applegate and she's very... dedicated... seems like it'll be a good class, though, so I'm looking forward to it. I'm taking Sexuality and Society with Dr. Pruitt who I had last semester for Deviant Sociology which was great fun and this looks to be more of the same, so I'm very pleased to have gotten into it (it's like 15 over cap). My other Soc class is Contemporary Social Problems and while I'm not overly excited about the class itself, it's taught by Professor Taylor who I had for Intro and he's a great guy so I'm still looking forward to going to class. I like having classes that make me want to go to them. ^_^ I'm actually disappointed that Linguistics isn't meeting again until next Wednesday because Dr. Gooding has to go out of town. How disturbing is that? I thought I was a college student! I'm not supposed to *like* class!
In other news, I'm currently reading the book that Rita ([livejournal.com profile] ladykittykatwku) got me for xmas called Squirrels At My Window and I *love* it. Hooray for squirrels!
Well, that's enough updateness for now, I suppose.

You're a Winter. You very much enjoy your time
alone but do like other people's company
sometimes. You just need your space. You have a
few priviledged friends who saw past your
colder exterior to find the true you. You can
have pretty bad mood swings (though you hate to
admit it) so you could be soft one second then
storming around the next! But over all, you're
a very pleasant person once people take the
time to get to know you. You're a good friend
for in-depth talks. You're very talanted when
it comes to creative things.

What season are you? (pics)
brought to you by Quizilla

(Katie, as if it weren't weird enough that we share a name and an astrological sign, have you noticed that we *keep* getting the same results on nearly every quiz... it's really kinda strange... I promise I'm not doing it on purpose.)

In other news, my dad's in town this weekend to see my brother's play. So like, half an hour after I got back to the dorm from the SGA retreat, he calls and so I went to hang out with him. It was cool though, I got a new outfit that's quite nice and we went to Red Lobster. Did you know that the sugar packets at the tables in Red Lobster have stupid jokes on the back? They're all puns about fish. It's really quite sad, but it amused me at least.

Why is Jen yelling at the Super Nintendo again? I can't complain, though, because I'm just as bad... if not worse.

This has been the *longest* day, fun mostly, just really, really long.

Random thought... I love to buy books, so why don't I ever get around to reading most of them? I was watching something on tv and it reminded me that I actually bought Bill Clinton's book and I haven't even started reading it yet. This is far from an isolated incident; I do it all the time. I think I'll blame college for taking up too much of my leisure time.

*yawn* Night all...
I just got finished watching the original Stepford Wives. It is uber-creepy. Plus the actress who plays the main chick is named Katharine and she spells it like me, which is way cool. So now I want to see the new one even though it will probably be exactly the same.
Oh, and I saw King Arthur today with Brad, Helen and Dougie. We missed the first few minutes cuz we came in late, but the movie kicked ass. It was *funny*! Some of what we were laughing at probably wasn't *supposed* to be funny, but we were practically rolling on the floor.
My fave new quote from the movie:
Lancelot: Are you worried? There are a lot of lonely men out there. (talking about the approaching army)
Guinevere: Don't worry. I won't let them rape you.
I don't normally want to see a movie again as soon as I've finished it, but I want to go see King Arthur again in case I missed anything the first time.
What am I doing? If I'm talking about my day, I should have started at the beginning, shouldn't I? This morning, I couldn't sleep, so I was up in Mom's room with the baby, too, at about 6:40 AM, when we heard this loud pop kinda noise. It sorta sounded like a gunshot, except louder. Well we went downstairs to investigate. Mom goes to the window, then starts yelling at Aileen to call 911 because there's a wreck in our front yard. So I go outside to check it out. Turns out a car full of drunken Mexicans were driving down the highway when they went off the road, took out are mailbox, destroyed a (very persistent) bush, and *demolished* two parked cars (no one was currently using either of them, but they did both work, till now anyway) easily a few hundred yards from where they first went off the road. It's a good thing they didn't hit the house; they probably would've kept going right into the living room. One of the cars they hit was an *extremely* heavy car and it managed to get pushed a few car lengths back plus half-way out into the road. The other one got smushed pretty good and pushed several feet back and several feet closer to the pond. I, for one, would have been greatly amused if it had been pushed *into* the pond. The best part may have been when they cuffed the driver and hauled him away in the state trooper's car. It was easily two hours after the accident before the state trooper showed up to give the breathalyzer and he apparently still blew way over the legal driving limit. From what we know, the car at least did have insurance so we shouldn't be completely screwed.
Oh and for some reason I haven't quite figured out yet, my mom decided to take most of the next two weeks off work to work on the house. She and Aileen and Tamie took out the partial wall separating the hallway across from Helen's room and Michael's old room while I was taking a nap this morning. Then this evening when I we got back from the movies they were painting the ceiling and a base coat on the walls. It was after dark by this point, so they couldn't really keep the door open that much because they didn't want to draw bugs. So most of the late evening was spent in a paint-fumes fugue state. I'm surprised no one passed out. The fumes have cleared off now, for the most part.
I'm not even going to start on the Queer as Folk season finale that was on tonight... I'm quite pissed off at Showtime for a number of things, not least among them naming Mel's baby Jenny Rebecca! What kind of a name is Jenny Rebecca? (This rant may be continued later today after I've slept, or maybe not.) Don't get me started on the previews for Season 5 coming next *spring!* *SPRING!*
*sigh* And now I'm being kicked off my computer so Aileen can use her lovely new webcam (which apparently won't work with *her* computer) and talk to boys. Hopefully I can manage to kick Zoe off of Super Mario Kart so I can get some sleep or read a book or something... Shouldn't I be sleepy since I've only had about 3 hours sleep in the last day and a half? Then again, in the day and a half before that, I was only *awake* for 7 hours, total. It's either a drought or a flood, I guess.
Did I mention that I bought all five HP books in paper back? I ordered them straight from the UK, so they're complete with all the original spellings and words and stuff. Cool, doncha think? Well, those of you who could give a flying fuck about Harry Potter, that is. Really gotta get off now. My coffee is getting cold anyway. Talk to you all later. One last thing, any word from Laura yet?
(I didn't have time to read this over for glaring typos before posting it, so if there's any that are overly embarassing, please let me know so I can fix them.)

( Jul. 11th, 2004 06:07 am)
Went to see The Terminal with Helen. (In case you don't remember the previews, it's the one with Tom Hanks who is a foreign guy who gets stuck living at the airport.) Was a very good movie, actually. It must have been because I was only minimally distracted by the fact that I spilled half my lemonade icee down my shirt (very cold, do not try at home). The Terminal was kinda like Castaway... in an airport. It made me want to live in an airport. Then again, after I read From the Mixed-up Files of Mrs. Basil E. Frankenweiler I wanted to go live in a museum... And after reading My Side of the Mountain (quite possibly the only book we ever read in school that I *liked*) in 6th or 7th grade, I wanted to go live in a hollow tree in the forest. I guess good fiction just has that effect on me. Anyway, I also watched Eurotrip today because Helen bought it. We started watching it before we left for the theater, then finished it when we came back. Which was a little surreal.
My mommy hosted a scrapbooking party (think Tupperware party, Pampered Chef party, sex toys party, etc. except with scrapbooking materials) earlier this evening, well, yesterday if you want to get technical about it. I was more or less forced to attend, but I didn't really mind. I made a scrapbook page with baby pictures of Zoe on one side of the page and early pictures of Aileen on the other side. Aileen was a *really* cute kid. I'll show the page to all of you guys when we're back in the dorm. The problem with this scrapbooking party thing is that it made me want to do more. So then, once I was finally in for the evening I hunted down all the stray packets of pictures in my room and looked through them. There are easily the equivalent of ten rolls of film. And that's just after a ten-minute search. There are probably more - not to mention the roll of film tucked somewhere in one of my boxes with pics of you guys. Scrapbooks are evil, but I'm getting the feeling that I will soon have many of them. Oh well.
I'm quite certain that nothing I've said thusfar has any resemblance to what I intended to say in this post. Hopefully whatever I meant to say will come back to me eventually. I just wanted to drop a quick line. I really ought to go to bed soon as I haven't had a proper night's sleep in several days. And Slave-Driver!Tamie will be back bright and early Monday morning to torture everyone some more. Joy!
Oh! I think I remembered what I meant to do with this post! Does anyone know when Laura's supposed to come back? I probably ought to coordinate with her as soon as she's back in the state, especially if I intend to ride to the airport with her. ^_^ Anyway, love you guys. Night! (Well, morning, if you want to get *technical* about it!)
